Sending a sensitive tip
If you are a migrant worker, a student on a sponsored visa, or anyone whose status could be affected by speaking to a journalist, take these precautions:
- Contact us from a personal device on your own network — not a work device.
- Use a personal email address, not one issued by your employer or college.
- Tell us up front what you need protected. We will not publish a detail that identifies you without agreeing it with you first.
- We do not publish immigration status, employer names or locations of sources who ask us not to.
For anything genuinely high-risk, email the newsroom asking for an encrypted channel before you send any detail.
